FAN-tastic!

Yuto and Hiroki did a great job showing people how to open folding fans. This little Chinese boy was very excited!

Getting Ready for Japan Corner

Japan Corner involves a lot of teamwork and organisation. Of course nobody does this better than Tokai boys!

Graduation Day (not ours!)

We were sad to see lots of our friends leaving Fettes. The graduation ceremony was great fun though. We sang a traditional Scottish song - Flower of Scotland.

Sharing Japan with the World

Today was a great day, we had a leaving graduation for the students who are not returning next week in the Chapel. Yuto O played the part of the alien in the leaving video and did a great job! The highlight of today was JAPAN CORNER. After an exciting trip into town to go shopping, the boys raced back to Fettes to get ready. We set up tables and painted big signs to show what each section was; Japanese food, calligraphy, origami, chopstick workshop and dressing up all were on show. The boys did so well to talk about their subject and include all nationalities in learning about the wonders of Japan. Patrick said it was the best Japan Corner he has ever seen. Hirotaka did a great job on the origami and helped me make a beautiful Ninja Star. The pictures show how amazing the event was. A disco happened afterwards and now the boys enjoy a fun Pizza evening to say farewell to their new friends. Tomorrow a tour of Edinburgh!

Time is Passing

Time is passing so quickly! The boys are improving every day. The group who went into town today went to an Art Exhibition. Yuto Kubota explained at dinner that they had learnt about Optical Illusions. They are images which show one picture but your mind sees another, the image plays tricks on your brain. Yuto's favourite image was the spiral effect which makes the image appear to be moving in circles but it is actually just a picture. At the school, Shuya and his group were making a horror film in Photography and Film project which he said scared the other students a lot. Well done them! The boys are making new Italian friends. I heard that Yosuke was dancing at the Casino night yesterday and all the students were cheering his name! Go Yosuke! The boys are very excited about Japan Corner tomorrow where they will demonstrate Japanese cultural activities to the other students.

Culture!

The boys have a great change to learn about Scottish and European culture on this trip. They may have learned about these things at school but seeing them for real is quite different. Especially in the company of old and new friends.

An Amazing Night in Las Vegas

The boys went to Las Vegas for the evening. What a great night they had!!! Thanks to Mr. Miyachi for these amazing pictures!

An Important International Event

The boys continued their lessons again this morning and having spoken to one of the teachers, they all seem to be making great progress with their English. The most exciting part of today was the INTERNATIONAL DINNER. After much excitement the dinner was a huge success. Each Tokai student had one other Tokai friend and then 4 international students on their table. They were all in Carrington house which is the boy's home for two weeks. We had Slovenia, Russia, Croatia, Belarus, Hong Kong, China, Germany, Austria, Greece, France, Spain and Japan! An amazing mix. Yosuke has made great friends with a French boy, Charles, and they were the life of the party. Hiroki and Taiki worked as a team to help each other with their English and now have lots of new friends on Instagram and Facebook. All the tables were talking in English and laughing with their new friends. Well done boys !
